| | title (EN) | Mario Party 4 Deluxe | | synopsis (EN) | MP4DX is a mod of Mario Party 4 which expands the game by changing it's item roster to one of a whopping 36 items. Does the Mini-Mega system get tiresome pretty quickly? Well, here's more items to play with and to spice up the MP4 experience! Returning, important staples from the Mario Party series that were absent on vanilla MP4, such as Mushrooms, Golden Mushrooms, Skeleton Keys and Plunder Chests, the items from Mario Party 3 are back too: Reverse Mushroom, Cellular Shopper, Bowser Phone now to your disposal. The Mario Party 1 dice blocks and items from newer games also made their way to this mod, as well as 5 rare items that you can get if you're lucky enough! (Including the dreaded Wacky Watch!)
This Item Expansion also comes with a rework on the shops: With the shops now having 7 items per visit rather than 5, and several Gecko codes are provided for the player to be able to edit the shop odds and prices at will. Mushroom Spaces are now proper Item Spaces, you can get any reward from them, not just Mini and Mega Mushrooms! By default, you have a 37.5% chance of getting multiple items (in the form of an item bag, only if you don't have one and you have 0-1 items), simulating Item Spaces in Mario Party 3, otherwise, you get a random, singular item. A Gecko code has been included to edit the item space odds at will too.
The AI of the CPU characters has also been tweaked to adjust to the new items, they being programmed to use them when needed, and each character having new item preferences!
